Kinetic physical etching for versatile novel design of well ordered self-affine nanogrooves.

چکیده
Ion bombardment at extreme grazing incidence leads to the formation of remarkably well ordered, one to two atomic layer deep, parallel grooves on a Cu(001) surface. These self-organized grooves are oriented parallel to the ion's plane of incidence and their period can be controlled between approximately 4 and 15 nm. We have identified two distinct temperature regimes: Between about 200 and 300 K the substrate temperature controls the period, while below 200 to about 150 K the ion energy does. The groove separation distribution shows distinct self-affine character. The physical origin of the novel nanostructures is discussed.

Design of a Novel Framework to Control Nonlinear Affine Systems Based on Fast Terminal Sliding-Mode Controller
In this paper, a novel approach for finite-time stabilization of uncertain affine systems is proposed. In the proposed approach, a fast terminal sliding mode (FTSM) controller is designed, based on the input-output feedback linearization of the nonlinear system with considering its internal dynamics. One of the main advantages of the proposed approach is that only the outputs and external state...
متن کاملSelf-Organization of Ripples and Islands with SiGe-MBE
We explored two methods to obtain laterally ordered Ge/Si quantum dot arrays. For the first we exploit the two independent growth instabilities of the SiGe/Si(001) hetero-system, namely kinetic step bunching and Stranski-Krastanov (SK) island growth, to implement a two-stage growth scheme for the fabrication of long-range ordered SiGe islands. The second approach is to deposit Ge/SiGe onto prep...
متن کاملOn Analytical Study of Self-Affine Maps
Self-affine maps were successfully used for edge detection, image segmentation, and contour extraction. They belong to the general category of patch-based methods. Particularly, each self-affine map is defined by one pair of patches in the image domain. By minimizing the difference between these patches, the optimal translation vector of the self-affine map is obtained. Almost all image process...
متن کاملSelf-assembled titanium calcium oxide nanopatterns as versatile reactive nanomasks for dry etching lithographic transfer with high selectivity.
We report the simple preparation of ultra-thin self-assembled nanoperforated titanium calcium oxide films and their use as reactive nanomasks for selective dry etching of silicon. This novel reactive nanomask is composed of TiO(2) in which up to 50% of Ti was replaced by Ca (Ca(x)Ti(1-x)O(2-x)). The system was prepared by evaporation induced self-assembly of dip-coated solution of CaCl(2), TiCl...
متن کاملDirected assembly of functionalized nanoparticles with amphiphilic diblock copolymers.
The ability to design and fabricate highly ordered superstructures from nanoscale particles remains a major scientific and technological challenge. Patchy nanoparticles have recently emerged as a novel class of building units to construct functional materials. Using simulations of coarse-grained molecular dynamics, we propose a simple approach to achieve soft nanoparticles with a self-patchines...
